“Aspiral” is the ninth studio album by the Dutch symphonic metal band Epica, set to be released on April 11, 2025, via Nuclear Blast Records. Announced on January 30, 2025, the album marks a new chapter for the band, emphasizing themes of renewal and inspiration. The title is inspired by a 1965 bronze sculpture of the same name by Polish artist Stanisław Szukalski, reflecting the album’s concept where each song stands alone yet contributes to a unified, monumental whole.

Three singles have been released so far: “Arcana” on November 13, 2024, “Cross the Divide” on January 30, 2025, and “T.I.M.E.” on March 12, 2025, each accompanied by a music video. “Cross the Divide” is an upbeat symphonic prog metal track, while “T.I.M.E.” stands for “Transformation, Integration, Metamorphosis, and Evolution,” hinting at the album’s introspective and transformative themes.

The album was recorded at Sandlane Studios, produced and mixed by Joost van den Broek, with artwork designed by contemporary sculptor Hedi Xandt, known for his work with bands like Rammstein and Ghost.

“Aspiral” is available for pre-order in various formats, including a collector’s boxset with a 5-disc earbook, picture disc 2LP vinyl, and an Epica coin, as well as a digipak and jewelcase CD. Special editions include a Blu-ray and audio recordings of the band’s “Symphonic Synergy” performance from 2024 in Amsterdam, featuring an orchestra and choir.

The album promises a blend of Epica’s signature complexity with refreshed, organic melodies, continuing their evolution in the symphonic metal genre. Worldwide tours to promote the album have also been announced.
