Te Rā” is the third studio album by the New Zealand groove metal band Alien Weaponry, set to be released on March 28, 2025, via Napalm Records. The album follows their 2021 release, “Tangaroa,” and marks the band’s first full-length effort with bassist Tūranga Porowini Morgan-Edmonds, who joined after Ethan Trembath’s departure in 2020.
Known for blending thrash, nu, math, and groove metal with lyrics in both English and te reo Māori, the indigenous language of New Zealand, Alien Weaponry continues to explore their Māori heritage while addressing broader themes of existential dread, societal disconnection, and cultural resilience.
Alien Weaponry has shown that music just got better.
He has won numerous awards from his previous songs and with the cooperation of his fans
he hopes he can win more with this new song theme “Te Rā ALBUM Album“.Year
The album was produced and mixed by Josh Wilbur, a veteran in the metal scene known for his work with bands like Lamb of God, Gojira, and Megadeth. It features a guest vocal appearance from Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe on the track “Taniwha,” which has been described as a death metal-leaning standout.
The band has released two singles so far: “Mau Moko,” which honors traditional Māori face tattooing and reflects on its near loss during colonization, and “1000 Friends,” a critique of social media’s impact on human connection. Both tracks showcase the band’s evolution, with frontman/guitarist Lewis Raharuhi de Jong noting that they pushed their musical and lyrical boundaries, scrapping and refining material to create something more intense and introspective.
The tracklist for “Te Rā” includes:

1000 Friends

With “Te Rā,” Alien Weaponry doubles down on their signature aggression while weaving in Māori history, mythology, and contemporary struggles, making it a bold statement of identity and defiance. Pre-orders are available through Napalm Records, and the band is currently on a North American tour supporting Kerry King, followed by headline shows in New Zealand.
